I buy bananas regularly to use in fresh smoothies every morning.  The fridge in my new home is taking some getting used to and the bananas I put in there to conserve their youth and firmness froze over the weekend while I was away.  I’ve never seen bananas turn such a lucious black before, especially in contrast to such a sparkling bright green.  Had to paint them.

Small original watercolour painting of green bananas on a white gold rimmed plate, their ends are black from being frozen and makes a beautiful contrast.

I don’t think the reason for the bananas’ black reads in the painting at all, but it’s a lucious black anyway. (click for closeup view.)
