A dozen years ago (or so) I went with a dear friend to her re-vamped, old school house in Fox River, Nova Scotia. On the edge of town was a typical grocery store cum postal station cum antique shop and upstairs there I found this lovely, old British milk jug.  On the bottom it says “Lord Nelson Ware, England.”  The internet tells me it was made in Staffordshire, England, and the brand “Nelson Ware” was introduced in about 1913 with  ‘Lord Nelson Ware’ appearing around the 1950’s.

I was immediately drawn to its eternally modern, simple decoration .  It’s too small to use as a water jug and too big to be a creamer for tea or coffee.  It gets occasional use as a flower vase, but really it’s mostly just hauled out and put on the sideboard every so often so I can admire its hand-painted, wavy lines and its it-ness, which I just adore.
