Red Plate, Lisbon

I couldn't get over the wonderful red of this glass plate in the apartment I'd rented in Lisbon and decided to approach it as one in the plate series of paintings I'd been doing.  Lunch that day was a cucumber sandwich so the cucumber was seconded.

THE PLATE SERIES A series of small paintings of food on plates that belonged to my grandmother and then my mother, kind of nostalgia and remembering, I think. The series was started during the COVID lockdown when many of us suddenly had lots of time to contemplate and look at and prepare our food.

Painting is unframed.
