In a number of the local grocery stores there are machines to squeeze fresh orange juice, and the weeks the blood oranges were in season they were in the machines -- what a treat of flavour and that incredible colour. I was also happy to find the blue-edges plates in the apartment I was staying in in Rome which fit right in to my plate series of the past couple of years.
THE PLATE SERIES The Plate series started using vintage plates from my mother and grandmother and has evolved to include other plates, still mostly vintage, that carry a residue of memory, nostalgia, dignity. The series was started during the COVID lockdown when many of us suddenly had lots of time to contemplate and look at and prepare our food.
Painting is unframed.
