Freshly pollarded parades of London Plane trees lined the main streets around my apartment in Rome, gleaming a rich yellow waning afternoon winter light. Apparently their big branches are deeply trimmed about every five years, but I saw mounds of twiggy brush during my weeks there suggesting they are given haircuts almost every year.
Painting is unframed.
