Freshly pollarded parades of London Plane trees lined the main streets around my apartment in Rome, gleaming in the winter light.  Apparently their big branches are deeply trimmed about every five years, but I saw mounds of twiggy brush during my weeks there suggesting they are given haircuts almost every year.

Painting is unframed.
