The ombre colouring of blood oranges is pretty fabulous, I was so seduced by their colouring I did several paintings of them -- so intense and brigh. I was happy to find the blue-edged plates in the apartment I was staying in in Rome because they fit right in to the plate series of the past couple of years.
THE PLATE SERIES The Plate series started using vintage plates from my mother and grandmother and has evolved to include other plates, still mostly vintage, that carry a residue of memory, nostalgia, dignity. The series was started during the COVID lockdown when many of us suddenly had lots of time to contemplate and look at and prepare our food.
Painting is unframed.
